Time that passes
things we don’t know
what we feel
we don’t understand.
Life in processes,
in transfers,
in traffic,
in dead time,
life in life,
anticlimactic,
pure and silent,
simple and inconsequential.

Sun,
trees,
a coffee in the morning,
cassette tapes,
a hot bath,
a glass of cold water,
one more photograph,
a new verse, another paragraph,
the people you know,
silence,
and the stranger you’ll never meet
intrigue.

Life lost in routine
or understood in inconsequentiality
the search for oblivion
without a greater purpose,
because we are nothing
and time is not enough
and there is still so much that you don’t know!
but you will find life in boredom
and from between your saddened eyes
a smile will appear
and you will find the poetry,
the love,
the happiness,
in the simplicity of sitting
and doing nothing
but seeing the sunlight
leaking,
through the leaves of the trees.
